Complete Less-Lethal Setup Checklist

A less-lethal setup is more than a launcher. Use this checklist to review platform compatibility, projectiles, magazines, air source, storage, maintenance, protective gear, and responsible ownership before ordering.

A Complete Setup Is More Than The Launcher

When customers shop for less-lethal equipment, the launcher is usually the first item they notice. It is not always the only item needed. A complete setup may also require compatible projectiles, magazines, CO2 cartridges, HPA tanks, regulators, storage, protective gear, maintenance parts, and platform-specific accessories.

This checklist is designed to help customers review the full setup before checkout so they can avoid mismatched parts, incomplete orders, and assumptions about compatibility.

1. Confirm The Launcher Platform

Start with the exact launcher model and platform. Different launchers can use different calibers, magazines, air systems, projectiles, seals, fittings, and support parts.

Before ordering, review the product page and manufacturer guidance. Confirm what is included in the box and what must be purchased separately.

2. Check Projectile Compatibility

Projectiles are not universal. Caliber, shape, shell style, material, magazine fit, and manufacturer approval can all affect whether a projectile is appropriate for a specific launcher.

Do not assume that every projectile of a similar size will work. Confirm the accepted projectile type for the launcher and make sure the product page clearly supports the intended setup.

3. Review Magazine Or Shell Requirements

Many less-lethal platforms require specific magazines, shells, loaders, or feeding accessories. Spare magazines can be useful, but only when they match the launcher and projectile type.

Check whether the launcher includes a magazine, whether spare magazines are available, and whether the selected projectiles feed properly through that magazine or shell system.

4. Choose The Correct Air Source

Less-lethal and training platforms may use CO2 cartridges, HPA tanks, regulators, remote lines, or platform-specific air systems. These parts are not always interchangeable.

Before checkout, confirm whether the launcher uses CO2, HPA, or another air setup. Check cartridge size, tank output pressure, regulator requirements, fitting type, and whether spare seals or air accessories are recommended.

5. Plan Storage And Transport

A responsible setup needs a storage and transport plan. Cases, storage trays, labels, lockable storage, and separated compartments can help keep the launcher, magazines, projectiles, air systems, tools, and parts organized.

Clear organization is especially important if you own multiple launchers or projectile types. Keeping items labeled by platform can help prevent wrong projectiles, wrong magazines, or unsupported air parts from being used together.

6. Add Protective And Training Gear

Protective gear may be part of a responsible training or handling plan. Depending on the environment, customers may need eye protection, face protection, gloves, appropriate clothing, or other gear required by the training site or organization.

Do not rely on casual eyewear, damaged protective gear, or assumptions about what is safe for a given environment. Review site rules, manufacturer instructions, and training requirements before use.

7. Review Maintenance Needs

Less-lethal launchers and air systems may require basic maintenance parts such as O-rings, seals, lubricant, cleaning supplies, tools, or platform-specific replacement parts.

Follow manufacturer instructions for cleaning, lubrication, inspection, and part replacement. Do not modify equipment or use unapproved parts to force compatibility.

8. Understand Legal, Policy, And Storage Responsibilities

Less-lethal does not mean harmless, risk-free, or appropriate for every situation. Customers are responsible for reviewing applicable laws, storage rules, site rules, agency policies, manufacturer instructions, and safe handling practices.

Detroit Less Lethal provides product information and setup guidance, but customers remain responsible for lawful use, responsible ownership, and proper training.

Pre-Order Setup Checklist

Before placing an order, review these questions:

  • Which exact launcher platform are you buying for?
  • Does the launcher include a magazine, air source, or accessories?
  • Which projectiles are confirmed compatible with the launcher?
  • Do you need spare magazines, shells, loaders, or feeding parts?
  • Does the launcher use CO2, HPA, or a platform-specific air system?
  • Are tanks, regulators, cartridges, fittings, and seals compatible?
  • Do you have a storage and transport plan?
  • Do you need protective gear for training or handling?
  • Are maintenance parts, tools, or cleaning supplies recommended?
  • Have applicable laws, manufacturer instructions, and site rules been reviewed?

Ask Before Checkout If Something Is Unclear

The best time to check compatibility is before ordering. If you are unsure whether a launcher, projectile, magazine, air system, storage case, or maintenance part fits your setup, contact Detroit Less Lethal before checkout.

A quick setup review can help prevent incomplete orders, mismatched projectiles, unsupported magazines, wrong air system parts, and accessories that do not fit the selected platform.
